Life Insurance Rates at Age 30 in Quebec (2026)
At 30, life insurance has never been cheaper than it is today, and it never will be again. Here is what term, permanent and universal life insurance really cost at age 30, for a woman and for a man.

Your thirties are the age of big commitments: a first mortgage, a first child, a partner who counts on two incomes. It is also the age at which the insurer takes on the least risk, so the premium is the lowest it will ever be in your life, and a 20- or 25-year term covers exactly the period when someone depends on you.
At 30, the question is not “is it worth it” but “how much, and for how long”. The tables below give the floor of the market; an advisor then adjusts the amount to your debts, the income to replace and the number of years before the children are on their own.
In brief, at age 30, non-smoker, survey of October 30, 2026:
- 20-year term, $250,000: from $13.05 a month for a woman, $17.10 for a man.
- Permanent insurance payable for life, $100,000: from $50.29 a month for a woman, $57.60 for a man.

What these rates mean at age 30
- At 30, a $500,000 20-year term costs less than a cell phone plan. It is the product that protects the most capital per dollar of premium at this age.
- Rates climb in five-year steps: the premium set at 30 stays the same until 50; waiting until 35 generally costs 10 to 15% more for the same protection, for the rest of the term.
- Permanent insurance costs four to five times as much as term for the same amount; at 30 it makes sense for a need that never ends: taxes at death on a cottage or a business, a child who will depend on you for life, or simply locking in a low premium forever.
- No-medical-exam products are not meant for healthy thirty-somethings: the exam is a few questions and sometimes a nurse visiting your home, and it unlocks the lowest rates.
