Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
1. Introduction
The finox.ca website, owned by Services financiers Finox inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”), is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of its users in accordance with Quebec’s Law 25 (Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information) and Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.
2. Information collected
When you fill out our quote form, we collect the following information:
- First and last name
- Date of birth
- Phone number
- Email address
- Sex and smoking status
- Type and amount of insurance desired
- Job title (where applicable)
Afterwards, your advisor may collect from you the other information needed for your file, including your address and postal code.
We also collect technical browsing data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and, where applicable, the identifier of the ad you clicked to reach our site, for the purposes of analysis, improving our services and measuring our advertising.
To help you complete your request, the information you enter in the form may be saved as you go, even if you do not submit it. Incomplete requests are automatically deleted after 30 days. The first step of the form (type of insurance, amount, smoking status, sex) contains no information that could identify you.
3. Purposes of collection
Your personal information is used to:
- Put you in contact with an insurance advisor certified by the AMF
- Allow that advisor to communicate with you (by phone, email or text message) to better understand your needs and your health, in order to offer you an insurance solution genuinely suited to your situation, and not just a price
- Provide you with personalized insurance quotes and offers
- Improve the quality of our services
- Measure the effectiveness of our online advertising and improve its delivery (see section 5)
Your request may be assigned to an advisor automatically (by rotation). However, no decision producing legal effects or significantly affecting you is made solely on the basis of automated processing: a human advisor certified by the AMF always reviews your needs and proposes a solution to you.
4. Consent
By filling out our form and checking the consent box, you agree that an advisor certified by the AMF may contact you — by phone, email or text message — to better understand your needs and your health, in order to present you with offers and an insurance solution suited to your situation, and not just a price. Your consent is free and informed, in accordance with Law 25, and you may withdraw it at any time (see the “Your rights” section).
We also use some of your information to measure the effectiveness of our advertising, as described in section 5. You may object to this at any time, with no effect on your request or on the service.
5. Sharing of information
Your information may be shared with:
- Insurance advisors certified by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF)
- Our technology service providers (hosting, analytics, advertising measurement) under confidentiality agreements
We never sell your personal information to third parties. Your request information (name, contact details, insurance profile) is hosted on servers located in Canada. Some technical and browsing data may, however, be processed by our analytics and advertising providers (including Google and Meta), whose infrastructure may be located outside Canada, notably in the United States. This processing takes place only with your consent to cookies (see section 9).
Measuring our advertising (Google)
When you become a client following one of our Google ads, we transmit to Google LLC (United States), in accordance with the Google Ads data processing terms, the following information:
- your email address and phone number, in an irreversibly encrypted form (hashed);
- where necessary for matching, your first and last name (hashed) and your postal code;
- the identifier of the ad click that brought you to our site;
- the fact that you became a client and an associated business value (this is not your premium).
This information is used solely to measure which ads lead to clients. It is not used to target you personally. Google processes it outside Quebec, notably in the United States; we have assessed the privacy factors of this communication, in accordance with Law 25. We never transmit your date of birth, your sex, your smoking status, your health information or the details of your insurance contract.
You may refuse this transmission at any time, with no effect on your quote or on the service: write to admin@finox.ca or let your advisor know. We will then stop any transmission concerning you and ask Google to remove the data already transmitted.
Advertising cookies
If you accept advertising cookies, your email address and phone number may also be transmitted to Google in encrypted form when you submit the form, for the same measurement purpose.
6. Data retention
Your personal information is kept for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described above, then securely destroyed. The maximum retention period is 36 months following your last interaction with our services.
7. Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure or alteration. Our data is hosted on secure servers with SSL/TLS encryption.
In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we will take reasonable measures to reduce its consequences and will notify you, as well as the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (Quebec’s access to information commission), in accordance with Law 25.
8. Your rights
In accordance with Law 25, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Refuse the transmission of your information for advertising measurement purposes (see section 5)
- Request the deletion of your information
- Obtain the portability of your computerized information (receive a copy in a structured, commonly used technological format)
- File a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (Quebec’s access to information commission)
9. Browser cookies
Our site may use browser cookies for traffic analysis and advertising performance measurement (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Pixel). These cookies are enabled only with your consent. When they are enabled, the data described in section 5 (“Advertising cookies”) may be transmitted to Google in encrypted form. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies.
